The Metropolitan Museum of Art's latest exhibition, "Jeweled Arts of India in the Age of the Mughals," will be shown in New York City between the dates of October 18th and January 13th. A sumptuous collection of the finest jewelry of the nineteenth century that India has ever seen has been generously put on view to the public, courtesy of Sheikh Nasser Sabah of the Kuwait National Museum, who has been collecting the items for over 25 years.

The beautiful pieces are anything but obscure, with styles that vividly echo the jeweled arts of the Indian subcontinent, even today. The collection, which inaugurated at the British Museum, and is now being put on display in New York, will then make its way to the Cleveland Museum of Art, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and then the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Some items in the exhibition are pendants of nephrite jade, sword hilts, archery rings of serpentine, agate and jade, forehead ornaments, turban ornaments, armbands of pearl, coral, zircon and blue sapphire, amulets, jeweled boxes, and jade bowls. A separate display of emeralds and rubies, some inscribed with Kufic, Arabic script and Persian verses, will also be on display.
